Monitoring Your Method Using the RCPAQAP (#45)

The RCPAQAP provides Interim, End-of-Cycle and KPI Reports throughout the year. Interpretation of the reports will aid in monitoring a method and its imprecision and accuracy. The RCPAQAP uses a method classification system to comprehensively describe the laboratories analytical system for each analyte. All methods are broken down into 4 categories; Analytical Principle, Instrument, Reagent and Calibrator. This breakdown facilitates a high level of peer review where the data is able to be shown in relation to the immediate peers using the same analytical systems. Information that can be obtained from these reports may help laboratories troubleshooting a change in calibrator set point, reagent lot number or instrument parameters. A laboratory is able to review within run precision, and monitor between run imprecision. This can lead for example to further staff training or increased analyser maintenance. The website is often an underutilized resource which can be extremely helpful investigating trends and shifts. This session will look at breaking down and simplifying the reports in order to understand their potential.
